Summer Term 2024

In Reception, we have been learning all about what happened at Pentecost. We have been focusing on how we can be a friend of Jesus and following his example, we talked about the different ways that we should act and how we should treat other people.

We drew around each other on the playground and wrote down words to describe how each of us were good friends of Jesus.

We always try our best to be kind and loving, just like Jesus.

Spring Term 2024

On Friday 9th February, Reception had a great day celebrating the Lunar New Year! We learnt that the New Year in certain parts of the world is celebrated on a different day (Saturday 10th February this year) and that 2024 is the Year of the Dragon!

We took part in lots of fun activities to celebrate. These included:

  • Learning how to say ‘Happy New Year’ in Chinese,
  • Colouring and cutting out dragon pictures,
  • Learning how to write some numbers in Chinese,
  • Making fierce dragon masks to wear.

We watched videos and learnt some fascinating facts about how the Lunar New Year is celebrated. We had feast with some of the tasty foods that are eaten and copied some beautiful dragon dancing whilst wearing our masks and using instruments to make lots of noise!

We had so much fun 😊

Autumn Term 2023

This term, Year R have had a great time learning about different festivals and celebrations! We created brightly coloured pictures on Bonfire Night and have had lots of fun on the run up to Christmas. We also had a special day of celebration on St Andrew’s Day to celebrate the Feast Day of our class Saint.
