Welcome to St Edward
Spring 2026
In DT we have made helmets using strengthening techniques to reinforce the shell structure. It was so much fun making our own and learning about the importance of helmet design to keep people safe.
Gordon Brown. As part of our history curriculum, we have been learning about the Anglo-Saxons. We had a fun-filled day at the Gordon Brown centre. We made Anglo-Saxon shelters/homes, shields to go into battle with, practised battle formations, laid a fire and cooked popcorn on it! The centre staff were very impressed with the history knowledge we had and praised us.
Science Day. We had a great science day all about fantastic foods. We carried out experiments to see what would be the best liquid to preserve cut-up apples, we investigated what happens when you put skittles in water and why, if you add a sugar cube, the food colouring is pushed away from the skittles. We also made butter out of cream and got to try our two versions of unsalted and salted butter on cream crackers – both tasted lovely. We also made ice-cream and investigated what happens to Gummy Bears when they are left in different solutions.
